You can’t assume that all hospitals part of a larger network are all in-network with the same carrier if one is in-network. In Butte County, Blue Shield contracts with all the Enloe associated hospitals. But Anthem Blue Cross only contacts with Enloe Medical Center – Esplanade. The converse is also true. Blue Cross doesn’t typically contract with Sutter hospitals for their individual and family plans. However, in Amador County, Sutter Amador is an in-network hospital for Blue Cross.
Like a mugger coming out of the shadows, San Diego County Medi-Cal worker(s) mugged a family enrolled in Covered California and stole their health insurance for 2107. The attack was unprovoked as the couple had not been in Medi-Cal and don’t have any children in Medi-Cal. However, Covered California reported the family to San Diego County because the family fit the profile of a household who they think aren’t smart enough to estimate their own income for 2017.

We can be fairly certain that the big push to enroll college students into new ACA health plans will result in a large portion of the students channeled into Medi-Cal plans. It is estimated that are 480,000 young adults age 19-29 that will be eligible for Medi-Cal2. If we assume a full-time student is able to work 20 hours per week, that monthly wage still puts them below the 138% of the federal poverty line ($15,865) and automatic Medi-Cal.
Numerous Medicare Advantage (MA) plans will be offered in 2014 throughout California. All MA are county specific and may have additional reduced availability by zip code within the designated county. Most of the MA plans also include the Part D Prescription Drug plan (MA-PD), but not all.
The Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services publishes a variety of documents outlining how much they reimburse Medicare Advantage and Part D Prescription Drug plans. Below is the monthly reimbursement rate for Medicare Advantage plans known as the capitation rate. This is only for California counties. The capitation amount is only for the medical portion of the Medicare Advantage health plan. There is a separate amount if the plan includes prescription drug coverage.
Because of the significance of this commuter route it is imperative that the County of Placer finish the Auburn-Folsom widening project.
