Beyond the well crafted TV commercials and print ads for Covered California are numerous volunteers that are “walking and talking” with total strangers to spread the news about the new Affordable Care Act health plans. People committed and passionate about health care reform from the Sacramento Mighty Oaks ACA Team are spending countless hours answering questions and handing out literature at libraries, community centers, neighborhoods and small businesses.
Sacramento Mighty Oaks is part of the Certified Outreach Network for Covered California. They will be holding a series of educational events at various libraries throughout Sacramento.
People and families from across the Sacramento region descended upon the Coffee Garden to help launch the outreach and educational campaign for the Affordable Care Act this past Sunday, August 4th. The local chapter of Organizing For Action in conjunction with UCDavis Health Systems presented an overview of the Covered California state health insurance marketplace organized under the health care reform legislation known as Obamacare.
Central to the success of Covered California in enrolling an estimated 5 million uninsured residents, half of which will qualify for low-income subsidies, is a robust educational and outreach program. Covered California to accept grant proposals for outreach and education.
