Imagine for a moment that the day you born your religion, political party affiliation, and occupation were chosen for you. It was official. You could not change what had been entered into those fields on your birth certificate. You were designated a Roman Catholic, Democrat, Farmer. Your destiny and life had been chosen. The government would only recognize what was entered on the birth certificate.
A Texas U.S. District Court Judge ordered the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) not to enforce rules against discriminating against transgender health care services in health insurance policies. The order was issued on December 31, 2016 before the new nondiscrimination rules were set to go into effect. The nondiscrimination rules are part of Section 1557, the nondiscrimination provision of the Affordable Care Act (ACA). A lawsuit brought by The Becket Fund for Religious Liberty
In a moment of exuberant passion for the cause of educating people about the stupidity of routine infant circumcision, I signed up the nascent Sacramento Intactivist group to march in the Sacramento Pride Parade. At a recent San Juan Water District (SJWD) Board meeting one of the Board members declared that the district would defend, with a lawsuit if necessary, their pre-1914 water rights to American River water during a period of drought. Patriarch Kirill has been supportive of the Russian Duma to pass, and President Putin to sign, legislation restricting the civil rights of gays and lesbians to fly […]
At some point, we finally work our way to the inevitable conclusion that a baby boy, girl or intersex individual is born with inalienable human rights which supersede any parental control. The cost of advocating for the human right to be left intact is the ostracism and ridicule from family, friends and strangers. Every intactivist marching on Sunday had realized the benefit of advocating for genital autonomy was greater than the social cost incurred.
With Gov. Dalrymple signing one of the most restrictive abortion laws in the nation, he has effectively declared that women are too dumb to make decisions concerning life and their bodies. Pro-life legislators in North Dakota, Kansas and other states firmly believe that the state must protect a woman from herself. Single moms are moochers […]
We continually see legislators in different states introducing and passing legislation that’s an invasion of privacy or a restricting health care services for women.
Historical fate could have left us with other constitutional rights that are just as thorny as a “well armed militia.”
The lack of gun violence in Israel and Switzerland probably has more to do with culture and government than gun ownership.
