Anthem Blue Cross closes plan, includes new born coverage

Clear Protection Plus 1000 closes

Anthem Blue Cross Life & Health Insurance Company (Anthem), California, has made the decision to close the ClearProtection Plus 1000 (06B3) policy for new sales effective July 1, 2012. Members currently on this policy are free to remain on their policy and add family members subject to normal underwriting guidelines. Members will have the opportunity to change to other select policies during an open enrollment period.

Newborn/Newly Adopted Child Language Updates for Policyholder-only Policies

Effective August, 1, 2012 these clients will now receive automatic coverage for the first 31 days of life for newborns and 31 days from the date of right to control healthcare for newly adopted children.  After the first 31 days, members will need to move the child to his or her own policy or move some/all family members to another Individual policy that provides coverage for dependents to ensure continuous coverage.

Expanded Coverage for Women:

As required by the Affordable Care Act, also known as federal health care reform, all new Individual health care plans/policies sold with effective dates on and after August 1, 2012 will include expanded preventive coverage for women.
