Anthem Blue Cross sued for ‘bait and switch’ tactics’

According to the Sacramento Business Journal as reported by Kathy Roberyson, staff writer, Anthem Blue Cross is being sued by consumer advocates that claim that adjustments to their individual health insurance plans, mid-year, constitutes ‘bait and switch’ tactics.

The class action lawsuit was file November 14, 2011, in Los Angeles Superior court. Changes during the course of the yearly plan were increases to deductibles, increased premiums and increased annual prescription drug deductible.

Anthem Blue Cross contends that a clause in the plan contact allows for such changes when they give the plan beneficiary 60 days notice.
