Covered California verification letters absent from member’s accounts

Verification notices are not being posted to Covered California consumer accounts.

Verification notices are not being posted to Covered California consumer accounts.

Covered California has been sending out a variety of letters notifying consumers that they must send in verification for such items as proof of income, citizenship and Social Security numbers. Unfortunately, these letters are not being reflected in the consumer’s Covered California Documents & Correspondence Summary section.

Letters are missing from Summary section

To date, the Documents and Correspondence section of the Summary page of the Covered California CalHEERS online enrollment website has been great. Usually any letters Covered California sends out to consumers or documents the consumer uploads are duly posted for review in the Documents and Correspondence section. It is has been nice to download a copy of a client’s 1095-A if theirs had been misplaced. It also helps to verify that a letter received from Covered California requesting Personal Identifying Information is legitimate and not a scam.

Upload, mail or fax proof

As of August 14th, 2015, Covered California service representatives are unsure as to why the letters are not being posted to the consumer’s Summary Section. If you receive such a letter it is always best to call Covered California to make sure it is legitimate if you can find the notice in the Summary section of your online account or secure email section.

Social Security numbers can’t be uploaded

Covered California doesn’t have an upload option for proof of Social Security numbers according to a customer service representative for Covered California. They must be copied and then faxed or mailed to them. Proof of citizenship or income can be faxed to Covered California or images of the documents verifying the information Covered California has requested can be uploaded through the Manage Verifications part of the consumer portal. Covered California hopes to have this issue resolved in the near future.
