Day 3 of 21 Day Challenge: Social Media

rope_challenge

One of my goals is to fine tune and expand my Social Media (SM) presence and marketing. While it is fairly easy to get started in SM, executing an effective and successful plan requires diligence and time.

I only have to review the purchases I have made because of my SM contacts to realize that it is marketing that pays off. Because of SM I have purchased goods and services such as promotional items, hair cuts, website services, restaurant meals, gifts and much more. If it weren’t for my Facebook connection to Stacey Powell at Creating Answers I never would have been selected for the 21 Day Challenge!

I have learned enough to know you that you will only engage quality people if you share quality content. To integrate Twitter, Facebook, Fan Pages, Google +, Foursquare, YouTube, Tumblr, (and the list goes on) to bring people to your website and blog posts is no easy task.

While on short trip to Palm Springs last year I connected with Gerry Wendel of ModlandUSA through some social media outlet. The common interest was our love of midcentury modern architecture, furnishing and pop culture. (Gerry also has the site Groovy Reflections). When I thought of implementing my 2012 SM goals, I thought of Gerry.

To make a long story short, I have started working with Gerry to help me dial in my SM strategy. For the next several weeks Gerry and I will be consulting over the phone. She has already given me lots of work to do for my website, Twitter account and blogging content.  My dream is to build a firm SM foundation so I can work with a company like Foss Marketing to handle all the integration of the differnt platforms and keep it current.

As Day 3 draws to a close, I can see a little progress combined with more work. Please forgive me if I don’t thank you right away for the blog comment, re-tweet or Like as these women at Creating Answers and ModlandUSA are having too much fun piling the tasks on top of me. However, they are the sisters I never had and I will never let them go.
