The latest error code in the Covered California enrollment system to stymie consumers occurs while attempting to change the health plan. My experience has been that if a consumer has been automatically enrolled in their current 2014 health plan for 2015, the CalHEERS program will not allow a plan change.
Error Code: 224 pops up on last page
Covered California has instructed consumers use the Change Plan link in the right sidebar to select a different plan than one that had been
selected for 2015. Once clicked, the consumer or agent is taken to the eligibility page and allowed to click on Change Plan Selection. The consumer can then Go Shopping for a new plan. But upon attempting to enroll in the new plan on the last page with the e-signature, the system returns Error Code 224.
Plan changes will be honored for 2015
Covered California admits that there is no fix for this error code as of December 12, 2014. All a consumer or agent can do is submit a fix-it ticket. This will register the consumer’s complaint and that they were attempting to change plans. This issue may not be resolved before after December 15th or the deadline for enrolling in a health plan to be effective January 1, 2015. Covered California staff is telling consumers that if they submit that fix-it ticket, when the system issue is resolved, they will be able to enroll and the plan effective date of 1/1/2015 will be honored.
