McClintock shuts down cancer treatment for Michelle Langbehn

Patrick Stelmach of California Fair Share and Michelle Langbehn who is fighting cancer and missing potential treatment because of the federal supported by Rep. Tom McClintock.

A rally at Congressman McClintock’s (R-CA) Granite Bay office featured Michelle Langbehn, a constituent of Rep. McClintock, speaking on how the federal government has interrupted her potential life saving cancer treatment from the National Institute of Health. Representative McClintock has been an early and ardent supporter of shutting down the federal government in an attempt to repeal the Affordable Care Act (ACA).

McClintock supports shut down over treatment for cancer patients

McClintock has put his Tea Party ideology ahead of the safety and well-being of his constituents. By allowing the federal government to shut down because his party doesn’t want the ACA funded, the Republican Party is hurting the very people they profess to support. How anyone, especially someone who has taken an oath to protect America, can rationalize that delaying and denying cancer treatment to American citizens is in the best interest of the country has a political mindset beyond my comprehension.

McClintock enjoys great health insurance through government employment

Americans just want is health insurance that is half as good as what McClintock has enjoyed for the 20 plus years he has drawn a paycheck from either state or federal government. McClintock believes his own constituents are not worthy to have the guarantee issue comprehensive health plans that he and his family have had access to.

It’s about community, not Party

The ACA is not about the Tea Party, the Republican Party or the Democrat Party. The ACA is about our community. The ACA is about extending affordable health insurance to all Americans regardless of whether they work the government, a large company, small company or they run their own business.

Rally supporters of Michelle Langbehn want the shut down to end.

McClintock puts ideology above his constituents

We all know that your health insurance membership card is your ticket to quality health care in America. By Congressman McClintock’s actions and words, he has put his Tea Party philosophy above the communities his was elected to represent. By voting to repeal the ACA numerous times, voting for a Continuing Resolution that strips away the ACA taxes to help Americans afford quality health insurance, like he has had through numerous years as an elected official, and allowing our federal government to shut down, McClintock has shown he cares more about a political ideal than our communities.

Cancer ravages more than just the body

I guarantee you that today someone in California was given the earth shattering news that they have cancer. There are 16 new cancer cases diagnosed every hour of every day in California. The fortunate cancer victims will have insurance. The unfortunate will face an economic collapse of their world. Congressman McClintock endorses the catastrophic economic and personal consequences that befalls families without health insurance.

It’s time to speak up

The rally presenting over 100,000 petition signatures to McClintock’s office was organized by California Fair Share. Michelle Langbehn is a resident of Auburn, CA, and is fighting a rare form sarcoma cancer. The federal shut down has put her application for special cancer treatment on hold.
