As far as farmer’s markets go, the Granite Bay market won’t break any records for vendors or crowds. But over the last several summers the farmer’s market held in the parking lot the Quarry Ponds shopping complex has become a little ritual for our family. Held on Sundays from 10 am to 1pm, we are always assured of some fresh fruits, veggies, flowers, bread and other local crafts.
Even on this hot Sunday morning there was a steady stream of community shoppers at the farmer’s market. Most of the farmers and vendors travel only a short distance from the surrounding area. I have to admire the vendors that dutifully come to Granite Bay every Sunday morning after a full week of bigger and busier farmer’s markets in Sacramento.
The Granite Bay farmer’s market will never be one of the “must see” destinations that gets written up in Sunset magazine. For the locals it has become an important part the Sunday routine while we are out and about traveling down Douglas Blvd.
