IEHP New For Covered California in 2024

IEHP appears to have very competitive rates for the Bronze and Silver metal tier health plans. They are less competitive at the Gold and Platinum levels. IEHP is the primary Medi-Cal managed care plan for the 2 counties. With the end of public health emergency, many Medi-Cal beneficiaries may no longer be eligible and will be transitioned to Covered California private health plans with the health insurance subsidies. IEHP has positioned themselves to retain those previous Medi-Cal eligible individuals in their new health plans through Covered California.

Medi-Cal to Covered California

The main benefit to individuals and families who transition from IEHP Medi-Cal to IEHP Covered California is a retention of all or most of their doctors and specialists. While gaining private insurance usually expands the network of doctors available to individual, there are inevitably disruptions and current Medi-Cal doctors may not be in the network of private health plan. The move from Medi-Cal to an IEHP Covered California plan in Riverside and San Bernardino counties should ease the transition and allow people to keep their current doctors.

A good step is to check the online provider directory of the health plan to verify that your doctors are in-network. For IEHP, you can visit the provider search tool for IEHP https://search.iehp.org/en#anchor-search. Even if you were not Medi-Cal in the Inland Empire, because of their competitive rates for Silver Plans, they are worthy candidate as a health plan in 2024.
