Hundreds of people turned out in force to protest against the anti-gay beliefs of the Verity Baptist Church in Sacramento. Pastor Jimenez of Verity Baptist Church posted a recording of his sermon on Sunday, June 12, 2016, stating that Christians should not mourn over the deaths of 49 people killed in a mass shooting at a gay nightclub in Orlando, Florida, earlier that morning. He went on to preach that it was God’s intention that gays should be put to death. He also mentioned that the shooter didn’t finish the job by not killing all the people in the gay nightclub.
Covered California has sent Certified Insurance Agents information and links on sensitivity and sales training for the Lesbian, Gay, Bi-Sexual and Transgender community. The sensitivity training presentation and social media icons were developed by Out2Enroll a national organization encouraging the enrollment of the LGBT community into Marketplace health insurance. While the overall information is good, there is underlying sales element that reduces the community down to dollar signs instead of human beings.
With the City of Sacramento formally approving the installation of rainbow colored crosswalks in midtown Sacramento, proponents of the project hope they’ll now see a rainstorm of money to actually install the fancy crossing stripes. The rainbow crosswalk project at the intersection of 20th and K St. is as much an homage to the LGBTQ […]

While some will take Beetle’s perch astride a rainbow as clear evidence that he is out of the closet, it might be more of an editorial comment by cartoonist Mort Walker, assisted by his son Greg. Perhaps Beetle is just suggesting that the stormy days of “Don’t Ask Don’t Tell” have finally passed. From here on out, gays and lesbians can anticipate blue skies as they serve their country out in the open.
After years of repression by the defunct Soviet Union, the Russian Orthodox Church is extracting their revenge by promoting repressive civil liberty legislation in their new democratic environment. Patriarch Kirill has been supportive of the Russian Duma to pass, and President Putin to sign, legislation restricting the civil rights of gays and lesbians to fly […]
Amador City’s current mayor, Tim Knox, has a vision that this little gold rush berg might become a gay wedding destination as a means to help stabilize and improve the community. It sounds as if the residents, businesses and the organizational structure are on his side.
Sacramento’s Pride Festival for 2013 was kicked off by a colorful parade down N Street. In addition to the local contingent of LGBTQI support and commercial services participating in the parade, Sacramento’s religious organizations were well represented. If it hadn’t been for the prominent display of rainbow balloons and flags surrounding the various churches and temples in the parade, I would have thought I was in the Bible Belt.
As soon as I saw the large rainbow balloon arch, music stage and sound system, I knew Westfield PR executives had triumphed in turning protest into rally.
