The 34,000 square foot enclosed equestrian center at Project Ride is almost like a sanctuary for the soul. Inside the large cavernous structure is this incredible open space filled with the muted voices of volunteers, riders and horses.

Comparing health plans offered by Covered California
It’s hard to compare the plans side by side because of the diversity populations they serve and lack of data on some of the health insurance companies. Much of the information about the different health plans and companies is spread out over several different agencies, reports and websites.
Hiking on a lava cap at Table Mountain
At the Table Mountain Preserve you get to blaze your own path across the volcanic cap of a mesa and not get trouble. For us, the straightest line to Phantom Falls was hiking through the tall weeds and over volcanic flow where no path existed.
Farm to Jar: food canning and preservation party
Master food preserver Rachel Davis led a kitchen full of canning novices on a short course on food preservation. What I particularly enjoyed was Rachel’s depth of knowledge not only about the history of food preservation but also the micro-biology, chemistry and physics. In addition, some of the plans have concentrated primarily in Medi-Cal and Medicare market and this will be their first push into the individual market.

But the bi-partisan scandal of the CIA paying cash to Afghanistan President Hamid Karzai has been conveniently forgotten by both sides of the political aisle. One GOP Senator questions CIA Karzai […]
A forgettable hike: South Fork American River Trail
Inherently, all hikes are good. Some hikes, however, have more merit than others. The South Fork American River Trail is lacking in many of the characteristics of a good or great hike. While it is a nice trail, you need to choose carefully when you decide to hike it and where you start.
WordPress Plugins can cause 503 illnesses
It all melted down when I started getting the 503 message: “503 Service Temporarily Unavailable. The server may be down for maintenance or it has reached the maximum of concurrent users”. Once the 503 happens the website and the dashboard shuts down, locks up, or crashes.
