But few of the visitors to Bodie State Park to hike around the Bodie Hills. Directly south of the old mining town on Cottonwood Canyon Road are some nice gentle hiking trails. The best part of the hike is the tremendous views you’ll get of the town of Bodie to the north and Mono Lake to the south. It is speculated that the unique Jeff Davis peak was the plug of an ancient volcano. The sides of the former volcano have eroded away leaving a solid vertical piece of rock.
Copyright laws help institutionalize greed and perpetuate an inflated sense of self-worth on the part of the creator or artist. Any true and original work will be revered and respected by the public with proper attribution to the creator. While copyright laws are necessary for the unauthorized reproduction of a creative piece for the purposes of generating a profit, most copyright laws should cease when the creator dies.
The Roseville Carnegie Library Museum operated by the Roseville Historical Society has become another elitist historical institution. Like other historical repositories of information, the once visitor friendly Roseville Carnegie Museum has placed their small collection of local history books off-limits to the casual reader. Now, if you want to thumb through a 1970’s era Roseville Telephone book, you need to make an appointment.

For independent health insurance agents, such as me, who don’t have access to an already established secure network through a large agency, we have to be more diligent in securing all the different parts of the internet communication puzzle.
It took me a long time to realize that the old adage of “It’s not what you know, but who you know” with respect to success was a crock of crap. Regardless of what or who you know, if you can’t produce something that people will consume, you will never be successful. The connections help get in you in the door. But if you can’t produce results, service, or products, you will be of little value to your associates.
Our son returned home from Williams College for Christmas break a very happy young man. His first semester at college in Massachusetts was far more challenging than he expected. It was also more fun and exhilarating than he expected. Even after the grueling course load, he was anxious to get back to Williams College and start the winter study program in early January.
As winter rain finally begins to fill Folsom reservoir from its historically low water level brought on by a prolonged drought, local residents will probably be just as quick to flush away their water conservation habits. The water conservation practices that Northern California residents temporarily adopted because of statewide drought reduction targets resulted in minimal disruption and sacrifice to our lives. That so many households easily reduced their water consumption by 25% to 50% over 2013 levels illustrates that suburban household’s waste more water than we thought. Even with Folsom Lake approaching near dead pool level in 2015, we were never pushed to conserve more water and there was never sense of urgency.
I screwed up big time on behalf of a man with a serious illness. The end result is that he will be without health insurance for the month of December. Even though there are other people who failed in this situation, I have to take the ultimate responsibility that he might have to shoulder thousands of dollars in health care expenses that would have been covered by health insurance. I broke the business rule of never following your heart, and always trust your gut.
I started hiking from the Folsom Lake Peninsula campground down to the tip of this stretch of land. Usually underwater, the drought of 2015 had drained the lake down to 15% of capacity. This exposed lake bed that is rarely visited during normal lake levels. Like many people I tripped across sunken boats, abandon gold mines and a surprising number of dams.
