Anthem Blue Cross California has released information regarding the coverage of medically necessary procedures to treat gender identity disorder, commonly referred to as a person being transgender. Effective immediately, all new and grandfathered plans will cover surgeries, hormone therapy and counseling associated with transitioning from the birth sex to the sex the individual identifies with.

Amador City’s current mayor, Tim Knox, has a vision that this little gold rush berg might become a gay wedding destination as a means to help stabilize and improve the community. It sounds as if the residents, businesses and the organizational structure are on his side.
At some point, we finally work our way to the inevitable conclusion that a baby boy, girl or intersex individual is born with inalienable human rights which supersede any parental control. The cost of advocating for the human right to be left intact is the ostracism and ridicule from family, friends and strangers. Every intactivist marching on Sunday had realized the benefit of advocating for genital autonomy was greater than the social cost incurred.
DOMA was not repealed by congress. Prop 8 was not voted out by the people in a new election. No elected official introduced or passed any laws that worked to strike down DOMA or Prop 8. The un-elected justices of the Supreme Court did what no politician could; remove the discrimination against same sex couples from getting married.
Sacramento’s Pride Festival for 2013 was kicked off by a colorful parade down N Street. In addition to the local contingent of LGBTQI support and commercial services participating in the parade, Sacramento’s religious organizations were well represented. If it hadn’t been for the prominent display of rainbow balloons and flags surrounding the various churches and temples in the parade, I would have thought I was in the Bible Belt.
