The time spent hiking up to the Sutro Tower was far better spent than the energy wasted on the Hockney exhibit. On any day I’m in the City I tell myself I want to climb the hill the three legged TV antenna rests upon. With a trip to the De Young museum to see a David Hockney exhibition, the weather, time and energy level to hike up a hill all aligned for us to find a way to climb up to the Sutro Tower.

A rally at Congressman McClintock’s (R-CA) Granite Bay office featured Michelle Langbehn, a constituent of Rep. McClintock, speaking on how the federal government has interrupted her potential life saving cancer treatment from the National Institute of Health. Representative McClintock has been an early and ardent supporter of shutting down the federal government in an attempt to repeal the Affordable Care Act (ACA).
With the launch of open enrollment for the Affordable Care Act, now more than ever, consumers who seek out the knowledge, professionalism and experience of a licensed insurance agent need to be reassured that they aren’t drinking from a poisoned glass. In a modest attempt to help guide consumers to agents who won’t engage in misrepresentation or questionable sales tactics, I have developed a pledge and code of conduct surrounding the sales of ACA compliant health plans by agents.
After giving presentations in Oroville and Chico, it was apparent that I should offer the educational seminar to other communities in Northern California that want to learn more about this new health insurance market place call Covered California. I am now offering presentations on the features and benefits of Covered California to large and small groups.

A group of Native Americans from Georgia settled in the area working the exposed auriferous gravel deposit north of Table Mountain and called the area Cherokee. The original transcontinental tunnels and snow sheds over Donner Summit were abandoned in 1993 for the tunnel under Mt. Judah. After hiking to the top of Mt. Judah you can walk the many miles of tunnels and cliffs blasted out by Chinese labor in the 1860’s. The concrete snow sheds that replaced the wooden coverings that were prone to fire from the steam engine embers, is now a canvass for graffiti art.
I’ve dealt with my fair share of physical pain over the years and am not given to visiting a physician unless it involves blood. However, when I started to bend over and fall to my knees with abdominal pain, I figured my body was telling me something. The doctor ordered a routine stool test to check for cancer which came back negative. It was at that point that I knew I had to change my diet or continue to cramp up and fall to the floor in an impromptu prayer ritual.
